in hand walk..

after a wash off with hibiscrub solution for it's antiseptic/cleansing properties on the scabs.

and after a bit of struggle to get her in again. They were a lot nearer the gate. i took ordinary headcollar and schooling whip and bumbag with treats (happily the other 2 don't bother investigating those, molly would prevent them) .. caught ok, but again, no desire to move....movement was achieved by facing her, and tapping with the schooling whip (just touching) in/behind the shoulder....and me walking backwards!

i do think theres something about her action down hill... looked again on the way back out to the field, which is down a steeper hill but not on grass ...not quite right... will get someone else to watch, i think! or perhaps try and video it...

and the scabs...i wonder, actually, if she might be allergic to the fly repellent? i'd forgotten that i think it was one day last week instead of spraying, as the spray doesn't spray very well, i'd put it on a sponge and put it on that way?

so walked out in hand up to the next yard, stopped for a chat and back round...

I hope you can get to the root of the *downhill* problem. Will she need to be brought in while you are away?

no - i've decided she can do without her top spec balancer for the duration, it's so much hassle getting a horse in from that field i can't put that on people, just ensure they all go talk to her/check her over every day!

i've a feeling i'm right, though, trudi...

Claire, I think as owners/carers we always *know* when something's not quite right. I'd felt it for months with Moralejo and his feet...just a shame that the farrier didn't realise, in spite of me discussing it with him several times. Thanks to cabruze and blogger I now have a great trimmer and I feel somewhat vindicated. Hope you can get Molly sorted.

you are right, trudi.

not her feet, though, i don't think. i've felt for pulses (none) and she's not standing funny...

if it's anything, it's shoulder...

Now you need to face forward, walk forward, and use the whip behind your back to urge her on. That should encourage her to walk along with you.

Could be an allergy? Is it the same spray you have always used?

Maybe a flysheet (fly rug?) would help in turnout. My guys where them all day/night long.

i should have said, jean, i'd already tried that (and kept going back to it) but it wasn't working...

and no i had previously used a different one ... which i will go back to, i think! mind, have used this stuff all this year, i think it was the sponging on, if that is what it is...
