for the first time for a while i got down the roller .. but didn't put it on Molly, instead brought it home for a good clean! hadn't realised how damp it had been in that tack room!
so molly went over to the arena to be lunged with nothing save her bridle and horseman's halter...and i took dresssage stick as well as lunge whip, thinking do some in hand as well, but most of the way over the bridge realised I'd not picked the reins up, doh!
never mind, she did some sensible lunging, none of the boinging we've had lunging in the field, and even though she coudl hear Charlie screaming, she didn't worry too much about him - cocked an ear every now and again, but that was about it.
didn't let her get sweaty, of course, just warm and the walk back cools her down - i really don't understand the traffic there, they will insist on passing when they can't see what's coming round the next corner!
then came home and cleaned the roller and put the pad & girth in the wash!
the saddle will be ok, as it was in the house whilst we were away..
anyway, glad to get something done with her, it didn't rain at all today was in fact quite a nice afternoon! not yet light enough to be able to do anything after work, but it'll not be long..

Half the time I think people driving cars are only aware of themselves and their own agenda. When we were plowing the driveways here, they just kept on flying by even though the tractor was partway in the road, or piles of snow from the driveway were still in the road.
I'd be terrified to ride one of my horses out there.
New Jersey has a law that when horses are present, drivers are supposed to go no faster than 25mph. It's a a good idea, but I doubt many drivers even know the law, let alone obey it.
However, glad you worked Molly a little and that she was so good. This bodes well for you when the real riding season starts. I'm getting a good feeling about the progress you have made with your sweet girl.
Hopefully there will be more opportunities to work Molly, gradually bringing her back to a level of fitness as spring approaches.
Hearing about her calmness while Charlie called reminds me of Tetley and Fella - one day when I was bringing Tetley back to their paddock, Fella was calling and frantically running back and forth. Tetley looked up briefly from grazing in hand and went right back to grazing.
Glad I don't have to deal with a road when I want to work Tetley.
going well..... and light nights are just around the corner
Glad you got to do some work. We've still got lots of snow here, it's just hanging around and driving us mad. Hopefully it'll thaw soon and we'll be able to get back to some work.
