FEI statement on rollkur

link in title...

Hope this is not just puff, and that we will in fact see this stopped at competitions, and that WHW are in fact involved

Anyway, so much for the news...

when I went down to the yard this morning, it was still blowing the remnant of last nights horrendous gales, so out she went into the field with Charlie...of course, time I got home (after poo picking as well as mucking out) the wind had dropped...isn't that the way!

Whoa! From the FEI, that is a pretty strong statement. Now, I suppose, the arguments will begin as to exactly what rolkur is and how long a horse has to be "in it" to be considered being treated cruelly.

Sometimes a horse will use hyperflexion as an evasion. And sometimes a brief "moment" of it will correct an on the bit/obedience issue. I can picture some over zealous steward carding people who might not deserve it.

This does get to be tricky situation which will take some time and effort to sort out.

But some of the big time trainers, whose extended use of rolkur has been well documented really should be on notice!

well, we'll have to see. think we're all a bit sceptical!

and even if enforced at shows, does nothing for what people do behind closed doors...

Hope it isn't puff either...would be nice if they took a stand and it goes away.
